Jon DuToit, Chaska golf
DuToit, a senior, earned co-champion honors at the Class 3A state tournament at Bunker Hills. DuToit posted a two-day, 2-under-par score of 142 to tie with Moorhead's Ben Welle for the individual title. DuToit, who will golf for the University of Minnesota next season, nearly won the tournament outright but bogeyed the final three holes.
Kuenster shot a two-day, 5-under-par score of 141 to win her second consecutive -- and first outright -- Class 3A championship at Bunker Hills. The sophomore shot a 1-under-par 72 on the first day of the meet, then followed with a 4-under 69 in the final round to top her friend and rival, McKenzie Neisen of New Prague, by two strokes. Kuenster's score is a girls' state meet record for the largest class of golf.
Playing shortstop, the senior went 2-for-2 with a walk in the Aggies' 1-0 victory over New York Mills in the Class 1A quarterfinals. He took the mound for the next game and shut out Blackduck 7-0 on four hits, striking out four. He helped himself out with a two-run single in the third inning. In the championship game against Lac qui Parle Valley, he was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
