Katie Plunkett

Katie Plunkett is completing her senior year as captain of the Visitation golf team. She also was the captain of the Alpine ski team in the winter.

Here is a closer look at Plunkett:

The best movie I’ve seen in the past year: “Zero Dark Thirty.”

Three words my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Calm, outgoing, laid-back.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are … “Homeless” by Ed Sheeran, “Only Love” by Ben Howard, “Off to the Races” by Lana del Rey.

What are your three favorite apps? Twitter, Instagram, Fashion Police.

Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why? I absolutely love following College Group Posts because they post the most ridiculous things people say on all of the irritating students’ Facebook pages.

At my first varsity practice, I felt … extremely uncomfortable. My sister was on the team at the time and everyone was really nice, but I’m pretty sure I never said a word to anyone.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? Last year at the Staples-Motley tournament when it was raining so hard that my bag had a foot of water in it by the time we were done playing.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? I would definitely change the golf season to the fall, so that there would be more than three weeks to actually play.

How do you balance school and sports? Since I’m taking four AP classes this year, I try to get all my homework done during my study hall and during class. Yet, when that doesn’t work, sleep becomes more of a luxury than a necessity.

In 10 years, I hope I’m … finally done with school!

What is the best sports advice you have ever received? “Keep calm and carry on.”
