It had been 15 years since Rosemount last qualified for the state tournament. The Irish didn’t want to wait any longer.

With two games at their disposal to win the one they needed for the Class 4A, Section 3 championship, No. 1 seed Rosemount took care of business in game one with a 6-2 win against No. 2 seed Eastview Wednesday at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville.

Rosemount senior shortstop Carson Blume was too young to remember Rosemount’s 2008 state tournament team. It wasn’t much later, though, when his group of friends began taking the diamond together. All those years, which featured two youth state championships, led to this moment in the varsity ranks.

“This group of guys, we’ve been playing since we were nine, 10 years old,” Blume said. “So for us to stick together and make state now is a big thing.”
